This is Guardbot, a surveillance robot that's able to manoeuvre on any terrain, even having the ability to swim. The device comes in a variety of sizes, ranging from as small as 5 inches to a model that is 7ft in diameter. 

Guardbot is fitted with two surveillance cameras, a batter that can last for 25 hours, microphones and GPS, allowing it to be controlled via satellites as well as remotely. 

It's currently still in development and the military are looking into using it for future deployments.

Say hi to the A7 security robot, one of the newest robots from Knightscope. Knightscope builds robots they hope will predict and prevent crime. Their K5 robot went viral when it had a little mishap by falling in water. The new A7 is a multi-terrain robot that moves like a crab. It's intended for patrolling large areas like an airfield and can go up to 3 mph. It will be shipped as a beta prototype in early 2018. Knightscope says their bots have already helped catch criminals, but they don't fight back against humans. They can scan license plates, use lasers, alert security guards and are equipped with thermal cameras. Watch your back, the A7 may be watching you in the future.

This studio floats under a bridge. The project is from furniture designer Fernando Abellanas. The secret bridge studio is in Valencia, Spain. Getting to the workspace takes some ingenuity. To get to the studio, you ride in a cart operated by a hand crank. It's a metal and plywood box that travels under the bridge.

Everything else is already attached to the wall. The doors to the studio close for privacy, or sleeping. The studio was not officially sanctioned by the city. Abellanas plans on creating more spaces in unused places.

SpaceX launched its most impressive rocket yet on Feb. 6, the Falcon Heavy. The launch was a brilliant success. It sent Elon Musk's Tesla roadster into space! But not everything went according to plan.

SpaceX wanted to land 3 rockets that day. But only 2 made it back to Earth in one piece. The Falcon Heavy is a beast, fueled by 3 main parts. Two booster rockets on the side and one core stage in the center.

Each part runs on 9 engines. That's 27 total engines it takes to lift this rocket to space. The two side boosters landed at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. The center core was supposed to land on a drone ship in the ocean. But it missed the mark by 328 feet and crashed into the Atlantic instead.

Now we know why.

Rockets save a little fuel in their tanks for landing. It fuels the engines that fire to slow down the rocket. But two-thirds of the central core's engines didn't fire on landing. Six days after the crash, Musk tweeted the reason: "Not enough ignition fluid to light the outer two engines after several three engines relights. Fix is pretty obvious."

Crashes like this aren't new for SpaceX. In fact, it released a video of all its fails back in 2017. SpaceX is famous for learning from its failures to fix them the next time around. On the same day, Musk revealed more news. 

SpaceX is currently building a second drone ship that will sail off Florida's coast. The two ships will be there for ocean landings of Falcon Heavy's side boosters. There is at least 2 more Falcon Heavy mission scheduled for 2018.

This is KALK, a minimalist electric motocross bike that can ride on and off road. On a full charge KALK can travel up to 50 miles, and has a top speed of 50mph.

It’s made by the Swedish company CAKE and every component of the bike is made from scratch.

It has no gears or clutch and is powered by a 15,000W motor. They are available from June 2018 but release is extremely limited, with only 50 bikes being made.

Does our hair carry on growing after we die?

When we die there is a myth that our hair continues to grow and it is actually a complete myth. What happens is the scalp shrinks and so it appears that the hair is growing. Hair grows roughly a centimetre a month, and when you die that skin sort of shrinks and pulls back, then it would seem as if the hair has grown. But no, when you die the hair doesn't continue growing.

Do nits really prefer cleaner hair?

Nits and headlice was always thought to be something that only people with non-hygienic tendencies would suffer, but in fact nits and lice like clean hair because they can move around the scalp much more easier and drink your blood.

Is dyeing your hair actually bad for it?

Dyeing your hair is not the greatest thing for it. But general weathering, just day to day, will also affect hair you know we'll have split ends and so on. Diet is key, keep your hair strong and healthy by ingesting the right nutritional foods and drinking plenty of water. The lighter the colour, the more hydrogen peroxide that's in there so that's going to be more damaging. So yes in short dyeing is bad, but it's not the worst thing, what you need to do is make sure that you look after your hair from within.

Can I tell if I'm going to be bald?

If you want to know how your, whether you're going to become bald or not. Then you need to look at who you take after the most in your family, do you look more like mum or do you look more like dad. So if you have the genes more like your mum and then you look at mums brother and he's bald then the likelihood that you may take after them.

Is it healthier not to use shampoo?

The truth is the lipids that are in the hair shaft cannot be washed out, what you are washing off is the excess bacteria and yeast so that the hair can grow out more healthy. So it is better to wash your hair. There is also a belief that hair will self clean, in actual fact what's happening is the build up of the grease and the bacteria becomes, if you like, I'm using the word crystallised, but it dries out. So it then forms scales which then brush out of the hair so I think that's more why people talk about it being self cleaning.

Are McDonald's fries the answer to baldness?

It seems an important finding if they have found something, but transferring that from mice to humans will be the real test. So I'll wait and see, there have been over the many years lots of people coming out with research where they think they've found the cure so I think this one is a wait and see.

Here’s how pillows are made.

The synthetic fiber pillows come in two styles. Garnet, meaning the pillows are filled with a roll of synthetic fiber. And blown, meaning it’s filled with loose synthetic fibers.

This first machine, the pre-opener, combs the fibers with a large, steel, spiked roller. This separates them to a considerable extent, though not yet fully. The fibers exit this machine straighter and smoother. However, several are still crimped.

The pre-opener’s four outputs drop the fibers onto a conveyor belt, which takes them to the next opening machine. Along the way, nozzles spray a special solution to reduce static electricity which causes fibers to cling to each other.

To make garnet pillows, fans blow the fibers through a long duct that leads to another opening machine called the garnet hopper. It feeds the fibers onto a spiked conveyor belt, which combs them out further. This removes many, though not all of the remaining crimps.

After the garnet hopper, the fibers look like the ones on the right. Fluffier, straighter, and smoother. The fibers now travel to the next opening machine. It has several metal rollers with sharp ridges which stretch the fibers straight, removing those remaining crimps.

The fibers then enter yet another machine, passing over one of two rollers, each of which forms a flat, fluffy sheet called a web. The two webs merge as they exit the machine, forming a thicker web. Then, the next machine laps it back and forth over itself to build an even thicker web. The width of the lapping determines the width of the pillow. 

Then, the machine cuts the continuous web into pieces and rolls each one into what they call a bat. The length of the piece determines the characteristics of the pillow. The longer the rolled piece, the fatter and heavier the bat, which translates into a higher and firmer pillow.

An automated machine makes the cotton or cotton-blend shell that encases the bat.Workers mount two identical rolls of fabric onto the machine’s two cradles and feed the ends through a series of tension rollers because the two sheets must be taut as they pass through the machine’s different stations.

At the first one, blades trim the fabric to the correct width for the pillow size. Standard, queen, or king. Then, a slitter runs across each sheet, cutting a series of rectangular pieces.

The machines then mates two rectangles, stitches them together on three sides to form a shell, and sews on the product information label. The machine uses an extremely strong overlock stitch. 

Now it’s time to fill the shell. As the bat travels on a conveyor belt, another belt above compresses it as it enters the waiting shell, covered just beforehand, in the pillow’s plastic retail packaging.
